Im 18. Jahrhundert im Val-de-Travers entdeckt, wurde Absinthe bald zum Modegetränk der Pariser Boheme und gelangte zu Weltruhm - bis die Grüne Fee Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts in den meisten Ländern Europas verboten wurde und beinahe 100 Jahre im Untergrund überlebte.

 

Dieses Buch zeichnet die Geschichte dieses "magischen" Getränkes nach: von seinem Ursprung als Gesundheitselixier über die Bedeutung als Kultgetränk und "Treibstoff" des Fin de Siecle und seiner Künstler - bis hin zum Verbot und den Mythen und Legenden, die bis heute erzählt werden. Und die dafür gesorgt haben, dass Absinthe - erst seit Kurzem wieder legalisiert - innert Kürze zu einem Szenedrink mit Kultstatus avanciert ist.
