Zaphir Chimes – The Authentic Successors to the Legendary Shanti Chimes

For more than 30 years, these unique chimes have been handcrafted in the Pyrenees from natural, mostly recycled materials. Inside the resonance chamber, eight chime rods made of a specially alloyed steel are silver-soldered onto a metal ring and struck by a central pendulum. This creates five magical, harmonious chords that make the Zaphir a wonderful relaxation instrument for yoga, meditation, or music therapy.

The dimensions of the Zaphir chimes correspond to the harmonious principles of the Golden Ratio. The resonance chamber is made of thin layers of cellulose, which are calendered under high pressure. The resulting thin, rigid cylinder possesses the specific acoustic properties required for the warm, crystalline sound characteristic of Zaphir chimes.

The five different melodies are associated with the natural vibrations of the seasons. All five vibrations harmonize with one another, allowing multiple Zaphirs to be played simultaneously.

The artistic coloring of the chimes is created using a special marbling technique, making every single Zaphir a unique piece. We offer the five Zaphirs in colors that match their respective seasonal themes.

The outer shell of the Zaphir is coated with an ecological protective film, the interior is painted with a moisture-resistant bio-paint, and the wooden parts are waxed. Despite their protective coatings, Zaphir chimes should be hung in a weather-protected area if used outdoors.
