Shaman Drum
Goatskin & Mahogany wood, Bali
These lightweight shamanic frame drums are handcrafted in Bali. They consist of a mahogany plywood frame covered with goatskin. The drums have a deep, full sound. Traditionally, they are played with a striker made of coffee tree wood and leather, which is included in the scope of delivery. The larger the diameter of the drum, the deeper its sound becomes. Due to the unique grain patterns of the goatskin, each drum is one of a kind. Jaw harps and rattles are well-suited as accompanying instruments.
You can find a sound sample below.
Notice:
Inspect the drum for damage before first use. When playing a drum with a stick, there is a risk of the stick slipping while striking and causing injury to the hands or face. Additionally, care should be taken not to strike the drum too hard in order to prevent damage to the instrument and potential hearing damage from loud noises. The vibrations of the drum can be intense. Sensitive individuals or people with certain health conditions (e.g., cardiovascular issues) should handle the drum with caution.
Care:
To care for a wooden drum with animal hide, wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt, and protect the skin from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store the drum near heaters or in very cold rooms to prevent cracks in the hide or frame. Use a padded bag to protect the drum from impacts during transport.
Disposal:
Please consult your local waste management facility regarding environmentally friendly disposal.
