Acai is a fruit which comes from a type of palm tree that mainly grows in the Brazilian Amazon Basin. The small, dark-red or black berry is a traditionally important part of the diet for the local natives. In the last few years, Acai has achieved worldwide fame as a ‘Super-fruit’. And rightly so, since the Acai fruit contains a unique array of vitamins, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids, fibres, and above all, an abundance of natural anti-oxidants. They have the ability to bind free-radicals within the body and to render them inactive.
