This special Siberian-style shamanic drum is handcrafted in Bali and has a diameter of approx. 56–58 cm. It consists of a round mahogany frame stretched over with a goat skin. The membrane is traditionally fastened to the frame with leather thongs. The use of the shamanic drum from the Scandinavian region extending all the way into the Siberian region has a long, deeply rooted tradition. The Siberian drum symbolizes the connection to nature, ancestors, and spiritual forces. It is played with a mallet or the hand by striking or tapping the drumhead. The resulting sounds and vibrations induce a trance-like state, enabling shamans to access other dimensions, communicate with spirits and ancestors, and facilitate spiritual healing processes. The shamanic drum has a very beautiful deep, loud, and resonant sound. Included in the delivery are a Siberian-style mallet and a well-padded, sturdy nylon bag. Jaw harps and rattles make great accompanying instruments. An audio sample can be found below.
Notice:
Inspect the drum for damage before first use. When playing a drum with a stick, there is a risk that the stick may slip off when striking and cause injuries to the hands or face. Care should also be taken not to strike the drum too hard to prevent damage to the instrument and potential hearing damage from loud noises. The vibrations of the drum can be intense. Sensitive individuals or people with certain health conditions (e.g., cardiovascular issues) should handle the drum with caution.
Care:
To care for a wooden drum with animal hide, wipe it regularly with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and dirt, and keep the skin protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Do not store the drum near heaters or in very cold rooms to avoid cracks in the hide or frame. Use a padded bag during transport to protect the drum from impacts.
