Accessibility Information
Date of this statement: August 2026 (based on automated testing using Lighthouse and pa11y/HTML_CodeSniffer as well as WebAIM/WAVE)
Description of the Service
Sensatonics GmbH operates an online shop at https://www.sensatonics.de, through which herbal tonics, absinthe, superfoods, essential oils, massage oils, incense, musical instruments, handicrafts, and literature are sold to consumers. The ordering process includes product selection, the shopping cart, the entry of delivery and payment details, and completion of the order.
Applicable Legal Requirements
This online shop is subject to the accessibility requirements of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz – BFSG) in conjunction with the Ordinance on the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetzverordnung – BFSGV), which are based on Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act). The requirements of EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.2, conformance level AA, serve as technical guidance.
Implementation of Accessibility Requirements
Sensatonics GmbH has implemented the following measures to ensure the accessibility of the online shop:
Perceivable
• Clearly legible text with sufficient line and letter spacing
• The default colour scheme does not yet consistently meet the WCAG 1.4.3 contrast ratio of 4.5:1. However, users can activate a high-contrast or dark mode via a button or through automatic detection of their system settings. This mode fully meets the requirement. We are working to ensure sufficient contrast in the default mode in the future as well.
• Content can be enlarged up to 200% using browser functions without any loss of content
• Alternative text for product images and graphics
• Status messages (e.g. shopping cart notifications and error messages) are communicated not only through colour but also through text
Operable
• Full keyboard accessibility, with visible focus indicators for interactive elements in high-contrast or dark mode •
Sufficiently large clickable areas for links and buttons
• Responsive layout that adapts to portrait and landscape orientation
• No functionality requires complex gestures or simultaneous inputs
Understandable
• Clear and logical structure of navigation and ordering steps
• Clearly labelled form fields and buttons during checkout
• Descriptive link text
• Ability to correct errors when entering data (e.g. address or payment details)
Robust
• Semantically correct HTML based on the Shopware Storefront theme
• ARIA attributes to improve screen reader compatibility
• Compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies such as screen readers
Non-Accessible Content
Automated testing identified the following remaining accessibility barriers:
• Contrast (WCAG 1.4.3): The default colour scheme (light mode) does not yet consistently meet the required contrast ratio of 4.5:1. However, users can activate a high-contrast or dark mode via a button or through automatic detection of their system settings. In testing, this mode met the requirement fully and without exception. We are working to ensure sufficient contrast in the default mode in the future as well.
• Accessible name of individual controls (WCAG 2.5.3 “Label in Name” / 4.1.2): The Apple Pay payment button in the shopping cart displays visible text that does not fully correspond to the accessible name provided for screen readers or voice control. As this button is generated at runtime by the payment provider, resolving this issue is outside our direct control.
• Third-party payment buttons and iFrames: Technically invisible iFrames embedded by PayPal and Apple Pay are generated at runtime by the respective payment providers and are outside our direct control. We are in contact with the providers regarding these issues.
• Invalid ARIA reference caused by a third-party plugin that is outside our direct control.
