Huaira Sacha - Chacapa
Chakapa - Shakapa - Wind of the jungle is a kind of palm frond made from the leaves of Pariana stenolemma tutin. It is used bei Shamans in the Amazon basin as a rhythm and healing instrument during Ayahuasca ceremonies. The sound of leaves calms the participants and purifies the energy in the room.
In a healing the Huairasacha – Chacapa is rubbed and rattled over or near the patient’s body while singing an icaro (medicine song). This cleanses, refreshes and harmonises the energy field. The shamans have a wide range of movements which produce different sounds and energies.
The Huairasacha or Chacapa will not arrive to you as shown in the photo. The bundles we receive often look dishevelled and/or bent and only if you follow our care instructions will they turn the bundle of leaves into "your" Chacapa.
What you do with a Chacapa to "rejuvenate" it: Hold the leaves for a few minutes into a bowl with water, you can also wash the leaves carefully with your fingers a bit inside the water. Then take it out and shake it a bit to reduce the water inside. Now you can flatten the leaves, and hang the chakapa for about half a day in a cool & shady place to let it slowly (!) dry. During this period it´s good to flatten the leaves again every couple of hours - otherwise they tend to roll a bit. This process is also good after a long time of use or when you want to make a "new" one out of two old ones etc..
