Absinthe - The Renaissance of the Green Fairy
Throughout the ages, absinthe has been shrouded in myths and legends like no other alcoholic beverage.
Ostracized and illegal for many decades, it is now again on everyone´s lips as a en vogue drink.
Among other psychoactive substances, absinthe contains primarily wormwood (artemisia absinthium). Thujone, its main active ingredient, is held responsible for the creativity-enhancing and relaxing properties much appreciated by the artists of the Bohème.
Toulouse-Lautrec, Baudelaire, Manet, Rimbaud, Verlaind and Gauguin were among the better known absintheurs.
Thanks to new EU regulations, absinthe can now again be enjoyed legally.
A number of true-to-original accessories revive long forgotten times.
There are three different ways how to drink Absinthe:
French Ritual
(with sugar, without fire)
1. Pour 4-6cl of Absinthe in a glass.
2. Put an Absinthe spoon with a sugar cube on it on the glass.
3. Slowly pour water over the sugar cube, so the sugar melts and the water gets into the glass.
4. Mix the content of the glass with the Absinthe spoon.
5. Enjoy.
Czech Ritual
(with sugar and fire)
1. Pour 4-6cl of Absinthe in a glass.
2. Put an Absinthe spoon with a sugar cube on it on the glass. Drip a little Absinthe on the sugar and light it.
3. Wait until the fire is gone out. Slowly pour water over the sugar cube, so the sugar melts and the water gets into the glass.
4. Mix the content of the glass with the Absinthe spoon.
5. Enjoy.
Swiss Ritual
(without sugar and without fire)
1. Pour 4-6cl of Absinthe in a glass.
2. Slowly add icecold water.
3. Mix the content of the glass with the Absinthe spoon.
4. Enjoy.
